Charles Francis COOMBS, son of Henry COOMBS and Charlotte Frances CLEMENTS, was born on 27 Jan 1874 in Plumstead, London, Kent.^{3 4} He was a Building Contractor.⁵ He died on 3 Dec 1961 in Frere Hospital, East London, Transvaal, South Africa.⁵ He was buried in Cambridge Cemetery East London. He married Edith CLARK.

Henry COOMBS,⁴ son of Samuel COOMBS and Mary, was born in 1844.^{2 8} He married Charlotte Frances CLEMENTS in 1864 in Lwisham, London, England.⁹

By the 1991 census Henry and family were living in London at Park House, Chestnut Place, Plumstead, Woolwich, London. He was listed as a builder and contractor. His wife and 11 of his children were living there as well as a general servant.⁴

At the 1851 census Samuel, wife Mary and 4 children were living at 73 Weston Hill, Buckhorn Weston, a village in Dorset where Samuel was a labourer.

According to the 1851 census Eleanor was a servant in charge of a house, married, born in Orleson, Herefordshire. The house was at 53 Tavistock Square, Parish of St. Pancras, Borough of Marleybone. On the date of the census her son James age 18 was visiting. In the 1881 census the address was 13 Tridon Rd., Civil Parish Lambeth, Ward of Vauxhall. She was listed as Head of family, a widow of 81 years. Her grand-daughter Helen, age 20, unmarried, a school Governess born in Pimlico, Middlesex was also living there. As well as Edith grand-daughter, 17 unmarried and born in Pimlico, Harry, Grandson, 14, a student born in Lambeth, and James B, likewise a student, 12, born in Lambeth.^8,14
